《Voices from the Island》 匯聚六部台灣短片,描繪關於移民、身份、女性與親情的故事。

在這座多元的島嶼上,創作者以各自的影像語言,細膩描繪人們尋找連結、歸屬與生命意義的旅程。

Voices from the Island brings together six Taiwanese short films that explore the themes of migration, identity, womanhood, and family.

Through diverse cinematic languages and personal perspectives, these films portray how people on this multifaceted island search for connection, belonging, and the meaning of life.

黑犬 The black dog

A film about nightmares, loss, and the kind of companionship that transcends words…

On the verge of losing his wife, Mo is haunted by strange nightmares, witnessed by his young daughter, Fen. As peculiar sounds escape him in his sleep, Mo struggles to suppress his emotions and confront the fear that grips him, trying to break free from the silent weight of his anguish.


導演 楊羚 YANG Ling

YANG Ling is a Taipei-based writer-director and founder of BLACK SQUARE Ltd. She graduated from the Film MFA program at the National Taiwan University of Arts and was selected for the Golden Horse Film Academy. Her debut feature FLUID, supported by the Taiwan Ministry of Culture, was selected for the 2024 Sundance Asia Film Tank. Her short THE BLACK DOG was nominated at the Busan, New York Asian, and Osaka Asian film festivals. She was awarded the 2025 Asian Cultural Council Fellowship to conduct a six-month residency in New York.


李煜明敬上 Calmmy, Me

Ming has a secret crush on Ting from the next class. One day, Ting suggests they start keeping a shared diary. But Ming, whose palms are always sweaty, begins to worry. Determined not to ruin the diary with his clammy hands, he comes up with a plan.

Adapted from the director’s own childhood memories, this film captures the tenderness, insecurity, and confusion of a boy growing up.


導演 吳翰林 Han Lin Wu

Han Lin Wu is an actor and filmmaker. He graduated from the Department of Motion Picture at the National Taiwan University of Arts and is currently studying Authorial Acting at the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (DAMU). His work spans television, film, and short productions, and he has also written and directed several short films. His leading role in Three Tears in Borneo earned him a nomination for Best Actor in a Miniseries at the 60th Golden Bell Awards.

當風吹起時 Who has seen the wind?

Nineteen-year-old Yi-Xin has been raising her younger brother Chen alone. One day, her father’s former mistress leaves a young girl named Xin-Fang in her care. As the days pass, the three begin to form a bond—one that is tender, fragile, and far more complicated than Yi-Xin expected.


導演 張嘉哲 Chia-Che Chang

Chia-Che Chang, born in 2000 in Taiwan, is a former military officer turned filmmaker. He earned a BFA in Film and Television from I-Shou University and is currently pursuing an MFA in Film at the National Taiwan University of Arts.

導演 溫紹涵 Wen Shao Han

Wen Shao Han was born in Kaohsiung , Taiwan.Experimental narrative films that integrate multiple media such as painting, cinematography, and editing, exploring cross-media creative measures.


遠雷與晚霞(短片版)Thunder&Rosy Clouds(Short version)

Xia, my mother, married into Taiwan many years ago, yet she had  not returned to her hometown in China for a long time. When  she finally decided to go back, I followed with my camera, forced  to face the lie I had long been telling – hiding her identity out of  shame for my half-Chinese blood.  


Sophie Yichia FU was born and raised in Taichung, Taiwan, and is currently based in Taipei. Her filmmaking focuses  on themes such as immigration, womanhood, and identity, with a context of her personal experience and  interest. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and is currently pursuing an MFA in Filmmaking. 

In her previous works, she formed critical points on these topics articulating deeper meaning through  stories. In 2022, she founded Morpheus Film. Her previous works include Home For Sale, Father’s Phone,  and The Script of a Taxi Driver, which have been selected by festivals such as the Youth Film Festival and the  Screwdriver International Student Short Film Festival. 


小小 Sharol-Little Princess

"You are your own voyeur." — Margaret Atwood

Little Princess follows Sharol, a 26-year-old nude model who blurs lines between art and pornography as she explores her body and identity. From rooftop self-portraits to OnlyFans performances, she boldly explores her body while confronting shame, love, and judgment. Is this self-exposure a rebellion, a performance, or simply her way of enjoying herself?


導演 黃令華 Flora Linghwa Huang

Flora Linghwa Huang is a filmmaker drawn to anthropology and documentary. A graduate of the MFA Documentary at TNUA, she explores migration, women’s inner worlds, and body politics. Now pursuing an MA in Anthropology at NTHU, she researches Chinese-Burmese filmmakers. In 2024, she founded Autumn Film Production and is producing her debut feature The White Waters, selected for EFM Doc Toolbox, CCDF, TCCF, Docs by the Sea, and CIRCLE Women Doc Accelerator.
